Play Changes Everything: RBC Capital Markets and Right To Play Canada honour International Day of Play
On the morning of May 21, 2025, RBC Capital Markets opened its 200 Bay Street office to host a celebration of play in partnership with Right To Play Canada. Guests gathered to explore how play can be a powerful tool for resilience, leadership, and learning—especially for children facing adversity.
With stunning skyline views and breakfast, attendees were welcomed into a program themed “The Power of Play, Every Day.” The morning was a dynamic mix of heartfelt stories, inspiring speakers, and hands-on activities that brought Right To Play’s mission to life.

Trevor Gardner, Managing Director and Head, Global Investment Banking Coverage at RBC Capital Markets, opened the event with remarks and introductions. Susan Vardon, National Director of Right To Play Canada, shared a moving presentation about the organization’s impact across the globe. Following her, Duan Asemota, Olympic sprinter and Right To Play Ambassador, reflected on his journey in sport—how it taught him confidence, discipline, and self-belief. These are the same life skills Right To Play fosters in children through play-based programming.
Guests didn’t just hear about play—they joined in. Corinne Frenzel, Senior Development Manager, Indigenous Programs, led two interactive games inspired by the upcoming International Day of Play (June 11). A storytelling activity and a round of trivia brought smiles, laughter, and a strong sense of connection.

A closing Q&A with Duan and Susan offered deeper insights into what fuels their commitment to Right To Play’s work and how play has shaped their own lives and leadership.
As the event came to a close, one message rang clear: when children have access to safe, inclusive, and meaningful play, they thrive. They build resilience, confidence, and the ability to shape brighter futures—for themselves and their communities.
Right To Play is grateful to RBC Capital Markets for their continued partnership. Together, we’re helping children around the world learn, lead, and grow—through the power of play.
