On Saturday, January 13, at Scotiabank Arena, members of the Right To Play team, alongside enthusiastic program youth, gathered to celebrate the Toronto Maple Leafs Indigenous Heritage Night. MLSE Foundation, a longstanding partner of Right To Play, was thrilled to provide an opportunity for program youth to attend a Leafs game and see themselves represented in the celebrations of the night.

Celebrating Indigenous Heritage

The game on January 13th was a celebration of Indigenous heritage, uplifting Indigeneity from the past, present, and into the future. Thank you to the Maple Leafs and MLSE Foundation for using your platform to amplify Indigenous voices and support sport opportunities for Indigenous youth!

Building Skills and Fostering Inclusivity

In a recent ball hockey clinic supported by MLSE Foundation and Right To Play, youth of all genders from Aamjiwnaang First Nation were encouraged to actively participate in practice sessions and a tournament showcasing their skills. This initiative aimed at building sport-specific competencies, teamwork, and an understanding of gender equity in hockey. The clinic's impact was showcased at the Indigenous Heritage Night during Saturday’s game. Watch the video shared that night below!

Over a decade of impact with MLSE Foundation

Since 2011, MLSE Foundation has been a committed supporter of Right To Play Canada, contributing a nearly $3 million. MLSE Foundation’s core support for the PLAY program over the past decade has played a crucial role in enabling the delivery of safe and responsive play-based programming.

This approach has supported thousands of Indigenous youth across Ontario to reach their full potential, and we are proud to partner with an organization who is committed to uplifting Indigenous youth through the power of sport.
