CANADIAN TENNIS CHAMPION BIANCA ANDREESCU APPOINTED RIGHT TO PLAY AMBASSADOR

PRESS RELEASE

Toronto, Canada

Canadian tennis champion Bianca Andreescu announced her official status as a Right To Play Ambassador at an event held at Runnymede Collegiate Institute today.

“I am honoured and excited to join Right To Play as an Ambassador,” said Andreescu. “Sport and play have been so important in shaping my life by creating opportunities to learn, to grow, and to succeed. I am excited to join Right To Play to help children in Canada and around the world discover opportunities through the power of play.”

“Bianca is a trailblazer and we are proud to have her as part of our team,” said Kevin Frey, CEO of Right to Play. “Her story of determination and record-breaking success is inspiring to everyone. Bianca is a role model for young people around the world, especially girls. Her passion and drive will be powerful motivators for the children in our programs as they discover their own potential to better their lives, their families and their communities.”

At today’s event, Andreescu joined Runnymede participating in Right To Play’s Youth to Youth program. Junior Leaders led Andreescu through various games and activities designed by Right To Play and used in programming across Canada and 14 other countries globally. Right To Play reaches 2.3 million children every year, half of which are girls.

“It was so much fun hanging out with these kids – they are definitely leaders making a huge impact in their schools and their communities,” said Andreescu. “I’ve been told a lot recently how much of a role model I am, but it’s clear to me that these students are the role models that we should be looking up to. I’m honoured to be able to support their efforts and to be part of an organization that is helping children shape a better world.”
