Right To Play’s PLAY Program had a unique kick off this year with our 2020-21 Community Mentor Fall Training’s shift to an online Microsoft Teams platform for a nationwide audience. The event took place from October 5 to 16, 2020 and brought together a total of 98 PLAY Community Mentors and people who work with youth (e.g. child & youth assistants, mental health workers, etc.) from across Alberta, British Columbia, Labrador, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario and Yukon. The event focused on the PLAY team’s overall goal to support CMs to provide consistent and safe outcome-based programming that meaningfully engages children and youth in their communities. The event was designed to support participants’ learning around program planning, play-based learning, safety and inclusion, sport programming and CM’s overall transition into the role of Community Mentor.
