Duan Asemota

Sprinting

Duan Asemota is a Canadian Olympic sprinter specializing in the 100m and 200m. He was named to the Canadian Olympic Team for the Paris 2024 Olympics in both the 100m and 4x100m relay. In his professional career he was also named to the 2024 World Athletics Relays 4x100m team and the 2023 World Athletics Championships 4x100m team.

Asemota began taking sprinting seriously in grade 10 at Notre Dame C.S.S. in Ajax, ON, after his gym teacher encouraged him to try out for the relay team. At the age of 16 Asemota also joined The Speed Academy running club. From there Duan attended Coffeyville Community College for two years before getting a full scholarship to The Ohio State. There he was an All-American in the 4x100m relay, and in 2018, he finished 2nd in the B1G Championships in the 100m. Asemota also finished 4th at the 2019 World University Games in the 100m.

Duan acquired his Bachelor of Arts in Communications Analysis & Practice while at Ohio State and during the off season works a full time job. When not on the track, Duan enjoys watching other sports such as basketball and football, as well as community outreach with young, aspiring track athletes.
