On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto transformed into a hub of activity for Hoops & Health, hosted by Right To Play partner Sun Life in collaboration with Canada Basketball. This engaging event was designed to promote health and wellness among youth through a variety of basketball-related activities.

Right To Play was proud to lead an hour-long session of fun-filled games, featuring youth from community partner Mohawks Bay of Quinte. Under the guidance of Community Mentor Emma Fowler, youth engaged in a variety of Right To Play games, like Fun Machine, Alaskan Baseball, Chuck the Chicken, and Sharks and Minnows. These games were brought to life using the reflect, connect, apply model, promoting both physical activity and valuable life skills.

Other notable clinics included wheelchair basketball in partnership with Wheelchair Basketball Canada, "Call The Buckets" drills with Kids Help Phone, and a lively hip-hop dance session led by Unity.

Thank you to Sun Life and Canada Basketball for putting on such an amazing event to help promote health and wellness and share in the joy of play together! For over a decade, Right To Play has partnered with Sun Life to support our programming in Canada, with Sun Life providing over $1.8 million in support to the PLAY program. In 2023 alone, Sun Life's contributions benefited more than 2,250 Indigenous children and youth across 36 communities, fostering a healthier and more active future for these young individuals.
